Matt Mahaffey of Nationwide's Mezzanine/Equity Real Estate Investment team will be joining us to discuss his team's investment process and the role of insurance companies in the commercial real estate landscape.  He will be joined by his analyst, Scott Hartley, a recent graduate of FRES.

Are you interested in owning your own investment properties? Recent Ohio State grads will be joining us to explain the process of owning personal real estate investments, hoping to demystify the process.  AJ Mangan, Paul Kwapich, and Scott Hartley all purchased duplexes and are currently operating those investments.  They will be accompanied by their banker, Jarvis Woodson, to also get insight on how to attain financing for such a project after recently graduting college.

Urban Regeneration & Private-Public Partnerships 

 

Stephen Leeper, CEO of the Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC), will be joining us to discuss the projects undertaken by his organization and the importance of public-private partnerships in revitalization efforts. Real Estate Modeling 10/20/14 7:30pm SB 210

 

Matt Starr, Director of Development at Crawford Hoying, will be joing us to demonstrate how to properly model a real estate project in Excel.  He will take us through a project from start to finish and tell us about the types of things he thinks about when considering a potential development.  He is currently working on the Bridge Park project in Dublin and previously worked for Nationwide Realty Investors (NRI) spearheading large scale developments like Grandview Yard.  Check out their website for more info: http://www.crawfordhoying.com/

 

Kaufman Development 9/29/14

 

Jay DeVore, Chief Design and Construction Officer at Kaufman Development, will be joining us to discuss projects Kaufman is currently undertaking in the Columbus multifamily market.  Jay focuses on design for Kaufman and is one of Ohio's youngest registered architects.  Jay previously worked at NBBJ after receiving his bachelors degree in architecture and MBA from Ohio State.  Check out their website for more info: http://livekaufman.com/

 

Career Foundations Seminar 9/26/14

 

The Real Estate Center is hosting an event highlighting the opportunities that exist in real estate and will be featuring multiple prominent speakers throughout the day.  The keynote speaker will be Jim Merkel, CEO of Rockbridge Capital, who will discuss hot trends in the business, what excites him about the industry, and why students should consider real estate as a career.  Check out the doc below for more info.

 

 

 

 

Metlife Investment Luncheon 9/12/14

 

Arun Singh, Associate Director at Metlife, will be joining us to discuss general trends in commercial real estate and the market's outlook for the future.  Arun is currently responsible for the origination, underwriting and asset management of commercial mortgages in the Southeast and Carribean.  He covers all property types over $20M and also assits with equity acquisitions.

Walmart Real Estate Luncheon: 12pm 9/4/14

 

Michael McGhee, Senior Director of Real Estate at Walmart Realty, will be joining us to discuss his role and opportunities for students at the company.  Michael is currently tasked with helping drive strategic direction, site selection, lease-purchase negotiations and overall execution of Walmart's corporate growth strategy throughout the Southeast.  He currently manages a portfolio of over 50 projects that represent over $700M in capital and 2.8 million square feet of added retail space.
